Polycentric hotels, the new Ligurian tourism
A brand-new approach to hospitality Liguria, the arched strip of land pressed inbetween Piedmont and the Northern Thyrrenian Sea is rich in breathtaking views and fascinating coastlines, with bays, gulfs, rocky cliffs plunging down into the blue and panoramic trails perched atop them. Yet its small towns and maritime hamlets, many rich in histories dating back to the Late Middle Ages are often ill suited to host large hotel buildings and often would-be visitors happen to be derailed to much less glamorous destinations which instead have their flat coastlines dotted in never ending hen house-packed hotels. Now the Regional Council of Liguria passed a set of rules to establish "Polycentric Hotels", hospitality structures based not in a single building but in at least seven different habitable units located in a certain historical area with at least 100 inhabitants. This will stimulate the birth of new receptive structures in ancient historical burghs, perhaps via the recovery of abandoned or dismissed buildings. Regione Liguria has approved a fund of 1,650,000 Euro to help and sustain the entrepreneurial proposals which will raise the interest of local administrators.
