Just outside of any train station and nearby hotel strips, taxis are great for early evening travels. Taxis are generally a safe option for going to and from restaurants and other activities. Being a foreigner still translates into “I have money to spend” and without clear figures and rates you might end up paying more than your Italian counterpart. It’s strongly recommend that you settle on a price before heading off on your trip.

If you liked the cab driver you chose and are staying in the nearby area ask for his card and try to use the same one for all your trips. Building a rapport will increase your chances of speedy reliable service and give you a better playing field for negotiating price. Incidentally, taxis from the Nice International Airport to Sanremo charge roughly 120 euros – the round trip will cost you about the same as renting a care for a week!
