The British rock star Rod Steward married his girlfriend Penny Lancaster yesterday in a 17th century villa in Santa Margherita Ligure just outside the posh Portofino resort on the Italian Riviera . The wedding was a small ceremony gathering with a few friends and family .
Afterward, the newlyweds went back to a yacht just off the coast where they have been staying.
It is getting more and more popular for rich and famous to get married in one of Italy´s many romantic locations .Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got married in Rome last November , Patricia Arquette and her boyfriend Thomas Jane tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Palazzo Contarini in Venice, with only close family members attending and also Desperate Housewives actor Dougray Scott , 41, and actress Claire Forlani, 35, married in Italy on last Friday .
